Mavado’s Work Permit Denied Ahead of Scheduled Concert in Cayman: Report

As per reports, an event titled ‘Campari & Magnum Presents: Mavado and Friends’ has been heavily promoted in Cayman for Friday, 17th of May. However, concerns have emerged as Mavado’s work permit has been reportedly denied, raising questions about the legitimacy of the event.
The event’s flyer shows scheduled performances from Jamaican dancehall stars Mavado, 450, Vanessa Bling & Jay-A at the Lions Community Centre. On the other hand, tickets for the event are being sold for, General ticket: $55, VIP ticket: $100.
Despite promotional materials still advertising Mavado as the main act, CMR(caymanmarlroad.com) has confirmed that the artiste’s work permit was denied. The refusal stems from Mavado’s 2012 criminal conviction for assault causing actual bodily harm, which has affected his eligibility to perform.
See the event’s flyer below:
Back in 2012, The Gully Gad was found guilty in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court for assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property, he was subsequently fined $80,000 for the assault charge, and $20,000 for the malicious destruction charge.
As per CMR, a potential attendee revealed that he was on the verge of purchasing VIP tickets when he learned about the permit denial. This has led to fears among fans that they may be deceived into buying tickets for a show that may not feature the advertised performer.
Notably, 450 and Venessa Bling are both in Cayman for the show as shown online via Instagram stories.
Mavado has not commented on the event/matter in the past 24 hours.
