Trinidadian American rapper Nicki Minaj is set to release her fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, on December 8. With fans locally and internationally eagerly waiting to delve into her latest project, local event organisers are set to stage a Pink Friday 2 listening party in Kingston to cater to local Barbz.

The party will not only treat fans of the artiste to her newly released singles from the album but also to her catalogue of hits amassed throughout her career. The event, dubbed Nicki Night Jamaica: Pink Friday 2, is the brainchild of Jamaican music enthusiast Jahvair Brown in partnership with Clever Life. Nicki Night Jamaica was first staged in 2022.

Minaj expressed her support of the event’s inaugural staging online, liking a poster of Nicki Night on Twitter/X. Speaking with DancehallMag, Brown shared his hopes that the event will serve as an invitation to the artiste and entice her to include Jamaica as one of the locations on her Pink Friday 2 Tour. So far, Minaj has announced over 30 stops for her 2024 tour in North America and Europe.

“We hope that this event serves as an enticing proposition—a pickle on a string, with a scarf, straw hat, and a cup of ice—for her to consider bringing the tour to our location when it kicks off,” Brown stated.

Brown explained that due to dancehall’s dominance in Jamaica, local fans of Minaj, like himself, can only truly enjoy the full extent of her catalogue at home. Observing Minaj’s growing interest in Jamaican music with the release of the Likkle Miss remixes with Skeng, Brown took advantage of the lack of events catering to her local fanbase and modelled Nicki Night after similar events taking place overseas to create a unique experience for fans.

For the second staging, Brown and his partners are targeting a larger audience so partygoers and local Barbz can experience the album together. Slated for this Friday, December 8, Nicki Night will be hosted at 30 Red Hills Road, Kingston, with tickets available online for $2,000.
