Nicki Minaj’s Jamaican Influenced Album

Nicki Minaj from Trinidad has released her latest album “Queen” on Friday. The album was produced by Young Money Entertainment/Cash Money Records and the Jamaican influence on the project is quite noticeable.

Matthew Boi-Da Samuels and Dwayne Supa Duups Chin-Quee are the Jamaican producers who featured on the 19-track set. The track “Hard White” was produced by Samuels.

The track “Coco Chanel” features Raaper Foxy Brown and samples the Jamaican producer Dave Kelly’s 1998 hit rhythm “Showtime”. Minaj is even heard rapping in patois on the beat.
Minaj has collaborated with the Jamaican dancehall star Beenie Man before and that album sold over 2 million copies in 2012.

The album that sold over 2 million copies in 2014 “The PinkPrint” has a song on it that was produced by Samuels.
