Following the surprise attack on Israel, allegedly carried out by the Hamas group based in Gaza less than 24 hours ago, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, like many other Western world leaders, has come out strong in condemning the attack.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness shared his views on X, expressing his stance on the incident. “The Government of Jamaica condemns in strongest terms the attack by the Hamas group on Israel, resulting in the deaths, injury, and abduction of Israeli civilians. We convey our sympathies to the Government and people of Israel and to the families of all those affected,” Holness declared.
However, the Prime Minister was not satisfied with that single post and made two others. “Jamaica firmly believes that the use of violence and terror has no place in international relations and should never be used against innocent civilians.” He continued by stating, “We call for a cessation of hostilities, a return to peace within internationally agreed guidelines and the pursuit of diplomatic solutions.”
In response to Holness’s comments, commenters weighed in, with the majority of the commenters under the prime minister’s post disagreeing with the politician’s comments. Some critics even demanded he take the post down.
Jerome wrote, “I disagree with this statement, you should condemned both side PM bcz the situation is not as it seems and it’s been years one side is been affected.”
Another commenter replied by stating, “PM you should add that; Israel should return to the pre 1967 Borders and remove all settlers from Palestinian territories.”
HopetonFur also wrote, “Watch yah! Look how the Israelis been treating the Palestinians for years, and not a whisper from you.”
