Sharing a video of the final moments of the intense 2022–23 Nitro Rallycross Championship series fourth round race, Prime Minister Andrew Holness praised the performance of Jamaican rallycross driver Fraser McConnell.

McConnel dominated his meet at the Glen Helen track in Los Angeles, California, over the weekend to secure his first win of the season. On Saturday, the 24-year-old won the day’s first heat race and would go on to win all three two-car battle brackets. McConnel’s excellent performance would continue on Sunday, and the driver dominated his Group E final meet. Pulling out ahead of his rivals in the intense finale, McConnel finished the race in 4:54.667 minutes to instantly become a crowd favourite. The young driver secured his first win ahead of established drivers Robin Larsson of Sweden, who finished second, and Andreas Bakkerud of Norway, who finished third.

Prime Minister Holness posted a clip of McConnel’s race, congratulating the Rallycross driver in the caption.

“Take a moment to watch this amazing video of our very own Fraser McConnell as he outmaneuvers his peer in this down-to-the-wire moment to secure a well-earned win…Congratulations Fraser! Jamaica is proud of you!” Holness wrote.

On the heels of his win, McConnell shared that he was proud of the weekend victory and happy to represent Jamaica at that level but said that he would not become complacent.

“The key is to grow and keep going forward, not get complacent and keep working towards even better results,” McConnel stated.

2022’s two-day championship finale race will take place on November 12 and 13 at the Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix, Arizona, where McConnel will be on the hunt for a second victory.
