The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that several illegal firearms and ammunition were discovered today, June 7 in the Salt Spring community of St. James.
According to the JCF, during a police/military operation in the parish, three high-powered rifles, two pistols, several high capacity magazines and a large quantity of ammunition were seized.
Since the start of the year, the JCF has reported a massive increase in weapons seized compared to the corresponding year.
Earlier today, Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson disclosed that the police recovered 27 weapons since the start of the month.
The ‘Get Every Illegal Gun’ campaign was established by Prime Minister Andrew Holness as a crime-fighting initiative that has been eradicating illegal guns, capturing gunmen and dismantling gangs across the island.
