Popcaan’s much anticipated new album is finally ready, and fans of the ‘Unruly Boss’ have been anxious since the announcement was made on Twitter. The dancehall star declared on Wednesday morning that his forthcoming album is completed, igniting excitement on the social media platform. “Album ready now enuh!!!” he exclaimed and further added to the tweet, “Bomboclaat! #DemDead #1Unrulystate.”
Fans flooded the tweet with praise and declared that the project is a “Legendary album.” The album is entitled Great Is He, and its release date is yet to be officially announced. Hence, Popcaan had fans salivating when asked when he should have it officially released.
“When unu say drop it this month??” the 876 Gud artiste asked in a second tweet. While many fans gave an affirmative response, one Twitter user advised the deejay to do his promotional campaign before releasing the album. “Do di promo run before you drop it, billboard and plaques dah time yah,” he commented.
Since August 2021, Popcaan has been dropping hints about the album, but he did not disclose any further details until February 2022. Earlier this year, the Toni Ann Singh deejay revealed the potential title was, “Great Is He,” which comes eight years after his debut album, Where We Come From.
On the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, Where We Come From peaked at No. 2. His sophomore album, Forever, released in July 2018, experienced a similar fate in terms of its position on the aforementioned chart and debuted at No. 171 on the Billboard 200 list.
Last month, it was revealed that his 2015 collaboration, I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times), featuring the American rapper Young Thug and the British producer/DJ Jamie xx, had achieved platinum certification in Canada. The single, which was included in Jamie xx’s 2015 debut album, In Colour, was certified by Music Canada based on combined sales and streaming data, with over 80,000 units sold.
