Popcaan, Ding Dong the Big winners at the YVA’s

[Sharingbuttons]Popcaan got 4 awards in 4 categories, at the Your Views Awards (YVAs) that was recently held at the National Indoor Center in St. Andrew. Even though he did not attend the event, he was the big winner.
Popcaan won favorite Caribbean Artiste of the year. Favorite local International artiste of the year, favorite male local artiste of the year and then shared favorite Music Collaboration with Dre Island (We Pray).

Ding Dong and Ravers Clavers also got 4 awards, they won in the Best Male Dancers of the year category, favorite dance group of the year category. Desha Ravers won Best Female dancer of the year and Kool Ravers got an award for favorite dance move. For the dance move, “Fling yu Shoulder”.

“People gravitate to us because we put in the work an’ we’re real in the streets. I have been winning this award for years, from the show first started. I feel we should give the younger dancers coming up a chance to win awards like this. Look at Desha, she won her award, an’ Kool Ravers won his award. There are so many talented dancers out there an’ a fi dem time fi shine now,” Ding Dong told Jamaica Observer.

Chronix and Spice got 2 awards each. The Reggae Artiste’s sister collected his award for the local chart topping song of the year “Likes”, he really deserved that award. He also won the best Album of the year award for “Chronology”. Spice who was not in Jamaica, was awarded for Best Female artiste of the year and favorite video concept of the year.

Even tho Alkaline lead with seven nominations, Alkaline was only able to secure Favourite Dancehall Artiste of The Year. Hottest Summer Song went to Aidonia’s Yeah Yeah. Both were absent.
