Post Malone was the big winner at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday (October 14th). He won nine awards, including Artist of the Year. With five awards, Khalid was the second biggest winner of the year, followed by Lil Nass X and Billy Ray Cyrus each receiving four awards for strengthening their record collaboration “Old Town Road (Remix)”. Billy Elish has won three awards. This year’s show was originally scheduled for April 29 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Kelly Clarkson hosted the show for the third year in a row.

Nearly nine months after winning a Grammy for this year’s album, Billie won the Billboard 200 Top Album. It is the fourth album in the last 10 years to receive these two awards, the first one Adele’s 21 and 25 and the second one is Taylor Swift’s 1989. Elish also defeated last year’s winner, Ariana Grande and three-time champion Swift to become the top female artist. Billie also picked top new artists. She is the only first female artist to win the category since Larde in 2014.

Luke Combs:

The 30-year-old country star won the award for the best country artist for the second consecutive year, becoming the first artist to receive consecutive awards in this category since the program’s relaunch in 2011. Swift and Luke Bryan each received two awards in the division, but not the consecutively like Luke Combs. This year he won for What You See Is What You Get. He won the prize last year for This One For You.

BTS:

The K-pop sensations voted by fans (fan-voted) won top social artiste prize for the fourth year in a row.

Panic! at the Disco:

The band won best rock song for the second year in a row. The first one is “Hey Look Ma, I Made It” and the second one is “High Hopes”. Panic! has won the rock song twice for the first time since the show was relaunched.

Kanye West:

Kanye West is one of the controversial stars. He also won an award for Jesus Is King. West was the first artiste to win both categories (top gospel album and top Christian album). West won all three awards in the gospel field. Leading artist, leading album, and leading song (“Follow God”).

Khalid:

The R&B star has won all three awards in the R&B field—Leading artist, Leading album (Free Spirit) and Leading song (“Talk”). He and West were the only artists to win awards in their respective genres.

Tool:

The musical Band’s “Fear Inoculum” has won as a top rock album. This is the second hard-rock music album to win in this category since the show was relaunched.

Justin Bieber:

The versatile star won the top country song for “10,000 Hours”, his partnership with Dan + Shay. Three years ago, Bieber won the Best Hot 100 song for a completely different partnership “Despacito,” With which he recorded with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

The Chainsmokers:

The duo won a record in the fourth year in a row for top dance / electronic artiste.

Cardi B:

WAP won her Best Female Rap Artist Award for the third consecutive time. Interestingly, the third candidate in the category was a pair, “City Girls”.

Bad Bunny:

The Puerto Rican singer, rapper, and songwriter. Won Best Latin artist for the first time. He defeated Romeo Santos and Ozuna. They both are the two-time winners in the category.
