Rafts-man and Boy feared Drowned in the Martha Brae River

[Sharingbuttons]Newelyn Reid, 62 has not been seen again since he tried to rescue a 5 year old boy who fell off the raft into the Martha Brae river, as he was in charge of as the Rafts-man.

Persons now believe both the rafts-man and the child have drowned as the currents in the water are very powerful and they must have been swept away very quickly.

Divers have searched for the bodies, but at 6pm they were unable to find them.

The adult who was accompanying the child and his siblings was very traumatized, but he told someone that they were planning to return to their home on Friday.
