Former Manchester City footballer and recently minted Chelsea F.C. forward Raheem Sterling led his team to a 2-1 victory against Leicester City on Saturday, netting both of Chelsea’s goals.
Both teams ended the first half without securing a goal, and Chelsea’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, was forced to watch his team struggle to gain superiority from the stands due to his one-game touchline ban for a post-match scuffle with Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte. The 22-year-old midfielder, Conor Gallagher, was also eventually forced to watch the match from the sidelines after receiving two yellow cards in the first half and was removed from the game.
The second half saw Chelsea and Leicester desperately trying to gain dominance, with recent Chelsea signing Sterling providing his team with a much-needed goal in the 47th minute. After netting his second goal in minute 63, Sterling secured the narrow margin The Blues needed to leave today’s match victorious. Both goals were the forward’s first for the club since joining them in July.
Leicester attempted to rebound, with midfielder Harvey Barnes scoring in the 66th minute, but the club was ultimately unable to secure a neutralizer, and the match ended 2-1.
