Rajindra Campbell Sets New National Shot Put Record
Jamaican Olympic shot put bronze medalist Rajindra Campbell broke the men’s shot put national record at the Zagreb meeting in Croatia on Saturday, after throwing a distance of 22.31.
The event called Hanžeković Memorial aka Zagreb Meeting is held every year at multiple locations in Zagreb, Croatia, it’s part of the IAAF World Challenge Meetings.
At the event, Campbell was outperformed by Ryan Crouser who throwed 22.93m for a season’s best and a meeting record, Payton Otterdahl also got a better distance than Campbell with 22.46m.

Over a month ago, on August 3, the Jamaican athlete secured bronze in the men’s shot put at the Olympic Games in Paris . The 28-year-old was the first Jamaican since O’dayne Richards in 2016 to qualify for the final of the men’s shot put, with a qualifying distance of 21.05m.
Rajindra went on to throw 22.15m in his second attempt. Campbell created history with his bronze medal win, becoming the first Jamaican to take home a bronze medal in the men’s shot put at the Olympic Games.
