Head of the JCF’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, ACP Gary McKenzie urged the driver to turn himself in to the police as soon as possible in a Monday evening report shared by Nationwide.

McKenzie stated, “We are not able to see the driver yet for the Range Rover because he fled the scene, so we are saying to that driver that you need to report to the police with immediate effect for investigations to proceed.”

The Accident took place in Sedburgh as a female constable transported her now-deceased son Traevon Sanchez to school. Sanchez was entering his final year at Christiana Leased Primary and Infant School.

In videos now making rounds online the motionless officer can be seen being taken out of the Honda Fit and being taken away to another vehicle to be transported to the hospital.

The constable is reported to be in critical condition at Percy Junor Hospital which is located in the parish.

As per McKenzie, 247 persons have died since the year started as a result of road accidents in Jamaica.
