Reggae Girlz Khadija Shaw Signed with Nike, Bunny Sets National Goal Record

Khadija, who represented Jamaica at age 14, in the under 15 and under 17b football league, before she moved to the under 20 level and went on to join the senior women’s football team has become a star striker on the Reggae Girlz team and is expected to make a move to Europe after she completes her education.

She is now a senior at the University of Tennessee and splits her playing season between UT and the Reggae Girlz. She has been winning many awards.

The Jamaica Football Federation also made note earlier today that Khadija is Jamaica’s all-time record goalscorer for both Male and Female, Lutan Shelton is in second place with 35 goals for the male team. “CONGRATULATIONS TO KHADIJA ‘BUNNY’ SHAW THE YOUNGEST ALL TIME LEADING GOAL SCORER FOR JAMAICA 🇯🇲 TO SCORE 40 INTERNATIONAL GOALS AHEAD OF REGGAE BOYZ LUTON SHELTON WHO SCORED 35.”

Nike, the famous sportswear firm that is based in the United States of America, A&V Sports the world-renowned Sports Agency, announced that Jamaica’s Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, 22, is Nike’s new ambassador.

There is a photo captioned “Geared up for the Summer” of the female football player on their website in which she is wearing a T-Shirt with the Nike brand on it as she holds a pair of Nike Mercurial boots in her hand. “Welcome to @nike family Bunny!” was also written on the page.

In October 2018, Khadija led Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz to a historic first FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualification, in France.

She won the title of Guardian Footballer of the Year for 2018, when she was the top scorer for her school with 27 goals in 32 matches.

Commentators all around the world says she is one of the most exciting players to watch and she is in high demand. Even though she has been going to school in the US since her three brothers died in gang violence in Jamaica.

Shaw wrote the following on her IG “I am grateful for what this sport has done for me and for what I have achieved thus far. It’s always a pleasure to represent the Black/Green/Gold. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams #strikehard”
