Veteran Dancehall selector, Ricky Trooper got into a heated argument with a fellow music selector in Trinidad and Tobago that got physical at one point as the two tussled. The two were taking part in a sound clash when things turned violent.
In a video clip now circulating, Trooper can be seen playing music before he was halted by his opponent who told him that his time was up for playing, Tropper replied, stating that the other selector did not have on a “watch” hence he can’t tell him when to stop.
“Yuh nuh have nuh watch….How yuh fi tell mi seh a 15 minutes when uh nuh have nuh bloodcl**t watch, Said Trooper…. weh di f**k yuh a look pan fi tell mi di time,” said the Jamaican.
The two men began arguing about whose turn it was to play, and after the other selector who is said to be from Trinidad tried to play music from his laptop, Ricky Trooper plugged out the laptop audio wire.
This was followed by a standoff between the angered men, and a small tussle, during which Tropper’s opponent made a gesture to reach for a weapon from his waist.
After someone else jumped onto the stage, the estranged selector walked off leaving the Jamaican on the stage as he argued that the other selector could not have shot him because of who he is.
“Yuh can shoot me and alive anyweh yuh deh, a Ricky Trooper mi name, yuh cah shoot mi an deh nuh weh Puss…” said the flamboyant Jamaican music selector.
Audio on the circulating video says “Ricky Trooper was almost merked in Trinidad by another deejay.”
