As per reports released on Sunday, Errol Bascoe, a former People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for St. Mary Western has been charged with buggery.
The charge stems from an alleged encounter involving Bascoe and a male from the parish who sought the educator’s legal assistance, per reports.
Bascoe is the current principal of Tacky High School which is located in Gayle, St. Mary, where he has been principal for almost 20 years.
He remains in custody pending an upcoming court appearance. Legal representation for Bascoe is provided by attorneys Valerie Robertson and Oswest Senior Smith.
Over the weekend, on Saturday, Bascoe tendered his resignation to the PNP, condemning the claims as “scurrilous and malicious.”
He also expressed that the decision was being made with a heavy heart.
It’s unclear at the moment if he will be removed from the head position at Tacky High.
