The lottery scamming activity in Jamaica was thought to be all about young Jamaicans scamming senior citizens in the US, but in this case it is possible that an old woman decided to rob other old people.

She is now charged with one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, two counts of wire fraud and one count of mail fraud.

Edmonson was apart of a lottery fraud scheme that managed to persuade individuals, who were vulnerable older people, to send their money and/or other valuable property by mail between January 2019 and December 2020. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) reported.

“Many persons were led to believe they were winners of the lottery and they needed to simply pay their taxes or fees in order to get their winnings.”

It was also alleged that Edmonson would deposit the money she got from scamming into the bank accounts she controlled, before the funds were transferred to accounts that belonged to the Jamaican scammers who used debit cards to withdraw cash from the banks on the island.

On January 6, after a probe was completed, Edmonson was charged.
