Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s Pocket Rocket Foundation Donates $1M to 11 Student-Athletes for 10th Anniversary
The Pocket Rocket Foundation, founded by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in 2013, is a non-profit organization that was introduced to provide monetary help to student-athletes in any sporting discipline at their high school from second form to sixth form.
In celebrating the 10th anniversary of the foundation, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, holding hands with the National Baking Company (NBC) Foundation, donated one million dollars to this year’s initiative.
Fraser-Pryce made a post on Instagram where she wrote a short speech highlighting the importance of young people and assisting them with building a future. In the caption of the post she wrote, “Investing is students is how we invest in the future. Our highest cohort ever of Pocket Rocket Scholars have been inducted as we celebrate 10 years of service…Cheers to a decade of difference!”
The track star also gave a big shout-out to the NBC Foundation for “joining us in our mission to help student-athletes soar to new heights.”
A big step up from last year’s student-athlete assistance that saw seven children being assisted with scholarships, this year, eleven students were chosen as recipients. Pictures were taken with members of the NBC Foundation and the students (5 boys and 6 girls) who were being granted scholarships.
