Shericka Jackson Wins in 10.65, Thompson-Herah 5th in Final of Women’s 100m at Jamaica National Trials – Watch Race

On Friday night, Jamaican female track star Shericka Jackson ran a personal best and world-leading time of 10.65 to win the 100-metre event at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
Shericka Jackson now holds the joint 5th fastest time in history. A day ago Sha’Carri Richardson ran 10.7 which was the world’s fastest time in 2023 before Jackson’s latest run.

Based on the results of the trials, the JAAA will select a team for the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships.
In a post-run press interview, Jackson expressed that it has been a good season for her as she has now managed to “master” her start, something she was not so good at in the past.
With Elaine Thompson-Herah finishing 5th this means that she is 6th in rank for Jamaica’s team going into the World Champs.

The JAAA Jamaica National Junior & Senior Track and Field Championships 2023 started on Thursday, July 6 and will end on Sunday, July 9.
