Sizzla Kalonji was in Miami, Florida, he made the announcement on Friday via a social media post that has caused his fans to rejoice online. After five years of not being able to perform in the United States, the announcement was made in February that his US work permit was reinstated.
On the heels of the permit being reinstated, at least two shows have been confirmed thus far for the August Town deejay in the US. The first major show is set for May 17 in Atlanta while another show is set for July 27 in Connecticut.
On Friday Sizzla whose real name is Miguel Orlando Collins took to Instagram and wrote, “It’s a beautiful day smile with the world put your problems away welcome the love 🎼🎤🎵🎶,” as the caption for the picture below, the location of the post stated Miami, he also rocked a shirt that says Miami on it.
Notably, the words “peace & Love” stand out on the wall behind him in the picture taken. Seemingly the post is also a statement that he visits in ‘peace’ despite some of his harsh lyrics against homosexuals.
Interestingly, Buju Banton is in Florida, having made the announcement a day ago via a live chat that Dj Khaled started.
Further reports states that Sizzla was passing through Miami’s airport and did not stay in the country as he transited to an island to perform.
In 2016, the Reggae veteran was granted a work permit and a five-year visitor’s visa. However, in 2018, the US Embassy revoked his work visa. While the reason for the revocation was never disclosed, many speculated that his controversial songs, particularly those chastising homosexuals, were a contributing factor.
