Shottas is a Jamaican crime film about two young men who participate in organized crime in Kingston, Jamaica and Miami, Florida.
Ky-Mani Marley, Spragga Benz, Paul Campbell and Louie Rankin were in the original film. It was written and then directed by Cess Silvera.
The original “Shottas” tells the story of two young men who grew up together, in a ghetto in Waterhouse, Kingston, the characters were played by Ky-Mani Marley’s character Biggs (Errol) and Wayne (Spragga Benz). While they were still quite young, they robbed a soda truck and shot the truck driver.
They bought visas with the robbery money to go to America, and continued committing crimes, and hustled in Miami. Biggs got deported after twenty years, in Jamaica where Wayne and (Paul Campbell) Mad Max, who were also deported, and they continued to commit crimes, they began extorting business people to get cash.
The movie is loved in the USA by Black people almost just as much as it’s loved in Jamaica.
