Dancehall artiste Squash whose real name is Andrae Maurice Whittaker has been in lockup over a month in Florida and is set to return to court on April 7 after entering a no guilty plea during his latest court appearance on Wednesday, April 2.
The 33-year-old, who has been in court multiple times since his arrest in February asked for a jury trial to decide his fate as it relates to the gun charges laid against him.
The deejay was placed in lockup after law officials found in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, it was also reported that ‘Bandit’ deejay was seen by officials receiving the illegal weapon which is locally called a ‘chip-Glock’.
Since his arrest, the deejay is yet to put out a statement regarding the matter, while his mother has been hitting back at critics online, she has not spoken directly on the matter, however, she did highlight that it’s better for him to be in lockup than to be at the morgue.
Following his arrest, a 3,000 bond was set, however, he was transferred from Krome North Service Processing Center (SPC) in Florida to Miami FDC which is also located in Florida, seemingly damping any hopes of an early release from lockup.
