Suspected Police Killer Fatally Shot

A 24-year-old male suspect in the murder of a policeman last week was fatally shot during a standoff with the police on Monday evening. The suspect, Dwayne “Loothie” Logan of Navarre Lane in St Thomas, is believed to be behind the killing of District Constable Mark Forsythe in York District, Seaforth of the parish.

Reports about Forsythe’s death state that locals called the constable at about 3:20 p.m. to report sighting strange individuals in a lane off York Main Road. He went to the area to investigate after alerting officers from the St. Thomas Operation Support Unit (OSU).

A short while later, gunshots were fired, and Forsythe was discovered with gunshot wounds in the rear of the premises. Upon being transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital by the police, he was pronounced dead.

In addition to the 37-year-old police officer’s murder who was stationed at the Trinityville Police Station, Logan is a suspect in a number of shootings and homicides in Seaforth.

According to the Jamaica Observer, citing information from the head of the St Thomas Division, Superintendent Allison Byfield, Logan was slain after he resisted the police.
