System Forming South of Jamaica to Bring Heavy Rain to the Island: Video Report

A system potentially forming south of Jamaica is projected to bring heavy rainfall to the island over the weekend. With the hurricane season not set to come to an end until November 30, the 2024 season remains active.
Early projections show a potential system development in a region of the Caribbean between Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Haiti.
While Canadian, European, and German icon computer models do not project a tropical storm development, the American model has projected that this area will eventually form into a hurricane.
Though a tropical system development has not yet been confirmed, all the computer models have projected that Jamaica and surrounding islands will still experience heavy rainfall over the weekend into next week even if nothing forms.
If a tropical storm does develop over the coming days, it is projected to travel to the northeast of the Caribbean.
Three-day forecasts from Wednesday through Friday project that the island has a 50% chance of areas of scattered showers and storms.
