TEEN KILLED, 3yo and Others Shot in Westmoreland Attack

Since the start of November, a hand full of people have been killed in Westmoreland where there is coincidentally an active State Of Emergency (SOE). The latest killing took place on Thursday night in a shooting and arson incident in Morass district in Whithorn of the parish.
According to the police, gunmen attempted to set a house on fire at about 9:30 PM, the occupants of the house saw the gunmen and raised an alarm, they also tried to flee after which the gunmen opened fire, shooting four persons including a three-year-old.
The Corporate Communications Unit, detailed that a 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. It’s unclear what’s the current state of the three other injured persons.
No motive has been reported for the attack.
As reported by the Jamaica Constabulary Force on Thursday, an AK-47 assault rifle and 47 assorted rounds of ammunition were seized during an operation in Bethel Town, on Tuesday.
A police officer was also killed in the parish just days ago.
