Tenant Reportedly Killed Landlord During Argument Over Rent

An unnamed tenant has been taken into police custody for the alleged murder of his landlord at his residence in Venables Crescent in Kingston 11.
While the tenant’s name has not yet been disclosed, the deceased man was identified as Patrick Newby, who was also employed as a shopkeeper. Reports state that on Saturday morning Newby and his tenant became embroiled in an intense argument that developed due to rent that was unpaid.
The disagreement intensified further, with both men arming themselves with weapons. The tenant allegedly had a knife, and Newby was armed with a cutlass.

Residents from the community attempted to intervene and stop the altercation, but the 36-year-old landlord received a stab to the chest. Newby fled the scene but collapsed on the road.
He was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), but the injury he received was too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
