Tia Clayton Wins 100m at Diamond League: “After the Olympics, I trained even harder than before”

19-year-old, Jamaican sprinter Tia Clayton who finished 7th place in the Women’s 100m final at the Paris Olympics, finished first place on Sunday, clocking a time of 10.83 at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland.
Clayton beat Marie Josée Ta Lou-Smith who also clocked 10.83s and Tamari Davis finished 3rd in 10.84s.
This was Tia’s second Diamond League event, but her first win, after the race she stated, “Going into this race, I just wanted to try my best, without any specific expectations. After the Olympics, I trained even harder than before.”
Fellow Jamaican Natasha Morrison finished 9th place in the race which took place inside the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow. Clayton was the youngest athlete participating in the race.
Another Jamaican, 22-year-old female athlete Ackera Nugent was also victorious on Sunday, setting a meet record at the same event in the 100m hurdles for women.
