Tommy Lee Sparta released from Lockup
Montego Bay native dancehall entertainer Leroy Russel aka Tommy Lee Sparta was released from police custody today August 17th, after being in lockup for over one month.
Tommy Lee’s freedom was first reported by Zipfm, Zip also reported that Tommy Lee’s lawyer named Ernest Smith stated that a tribunal decided there was no “justifiable reason” for the artiste to remain in lockup”.
As a result of the upcoming general election SOE will be paused hence Tommy Lee could not be kept in police custody on SOE grounds any longer. Now a freedman “Uncle Demon” was not charged and mostly had to answer several questions as reported earlier by his attorney.
Ernest Smith informed the public via Zip FM that Tommy Lee is currently in Kingston and looking to continues his peaceful mission.
Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay explained in a LOOP report earlier also that Tommy Lee will be released today without the police filling any charges, however no exact time of the day was given.
Tommy Lee was taken into custody as a person of interest on July 7 after his name had been attached to the upsurge in violence in Flankers Montego Bay.
In a recent Live, fellow dancehall artiste Popcaan called on the authorities to “Free Tommy Lee”.
Tommy Lee Sparta was taken on apartment searches weeks ago by the cops while being detained and by all all accounts the deejay would have been in lockup for 90 days, based on SOE rules. The election seemingly tuned out to be Tommy’s saviour.
