Today marks the anniversary of the unfortunate passing of George Floyd in the city of Minneapolis, and in an empathetic effort to the family of the deceased, American President Joe Biden invited them to visit him at the White House.
Those who visited the President were Floyd’s brothers Rodney Floyd, Terrence Floyd, and Philonise Floyd, as well as his daughter Gianna, his daughter’s mother Roxie Washington, his sister Bridgett Floyd, his sister in law Kita Floyd and his nephew Brandon Williams.
Just recently Derek Chauvin, the officer that was involved in the death of Floyd was found guilty of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
In loving memory of the deceased, a mural was also painted at the spot which he died, seeing many people turning out to pay their respects, with even gun salutes going off this morning.
So far President Biden has pushed for a bill that will require the police to cut out chokeholds however, he will need to wait for others to vote on the matter, and the process to be fully completed before it can be passed as a law.
