Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt released his “Country Yutes” album in collaboration with his business partner/artiste on the A-team lifestyle label, Nj on September 3rd and it launched the team of fairly new musicians into the spotlight as it debuted on the Reggae Billboard Album chart at number 6.
The immaculate performance by “Country Yutes”, has not only outdone the expectation of the A-team but has also outperformed some of Jamaica’s most iconic acts where their debuted real album sales are concerned.
Three of those big names are Vybz Kartel, Spice and Alkaline, who respectively released the albums “Born Fi Dis”, “10” and “Top Prize”.
These entertainers are well known for their hardcore expression of the genre, which wields in many fans and gives them an aura of prestige as well as a loyal cult following.
All those factors have nothing on Usain Bolt and his team’s strategy, According to reports, the “Country Yutes” album had 1,651 real album sales In its first week while Spice had 676 for her “10” album and Vybz Kartel 605 for “Born Fi Dis”.
The closest hardcore dancehall act to even move close to Usain Bolt and NJ in real album sales is; the ‘Vendetta Boss’ Alkaline who had recorded an amount of 1,527 In the first week of sales for his “Top Prize” album.
That’s not all, as the project is currently number on the iTunes Reggae Album chart as seen in the screenshot below.
The double sprint world record holder might just also be laughing at dancehall artiste Popcaan, who earlier this year bashed Bolt for a song he released with NJ, telling him to give more talented youths the opportunity.
That did not bother the now producer/businessman who brushed off ‘Poppi’s’ comments as “badmind”, and continued to work on his music career with the hopes of someday receiving a Grammy award.
