The usually upbeat and jovial Usain Bolt has been showing sadness since the start of the week, taking to social media on several occasions to make cryptic statements.

While the issue at hand with SSL is known, Bolt’s mysterious statements seem to be pointing at others that he wish to not mention by name. “They banking on the country youth love for his country.. but ask yourself do they love their country or themselves,” he asked in a statement made on September 30.

The retired sprinter followed up on Thursday with more statements, first, he wrote, “Heart broken so many words unspoken,” along with a clock emoji, in a tweet on X. He followed up shortly after, stating, “Broken words not broken records.”

This series of tweets from Bolt since October is a reminder that he remains upset about losing millions. As announced in early 2023, Bolt and other investors fell victim to the investment fraud at SSL (Stocks and Securities Limited).

As per reports, the trusted institution was steeped in a fraud scheme that was later revealed to surpass USD$30M.

Bolt’s statements on the matter come on the heels of “fake news” circulating online that SSL victims including the 38-year-old will be compensated.

To date, Bolt is unsure when or if he will recover his US$12.7 million, he is also unsure of who took his money. The matter is being investigated and will heard again in court later this month.
