Veronica Campbell Brown Statue

Veronica Campbell Brown gave her permission for a statue that was made in her likeness to be mounted on Thursday.
Sports minister Olivia Babsy Grange was told the good news from the world champion who has been representing Jamaica for a long time.
There were discussions with Veronica and Basil Watson the sculpture of the statue, about the design. The Minister reported that Veronica saw the maquette and said, “yes, this is it.” “She loves it, ”Minister Grange said.

The statue will be unveiled on October 20th during a special ceremony. It will be mounted at Statue Park in the National Stadium.
The statue is a tribute to Veronica and it the third in tribute to outstanding Jamaican athletes,
It was designed by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, as a part of the Jamaica 55 Legacy programme.
The statue of Asafa Powell is still being worked on, it will be the last in the series. In 2017 the statue of Usain Bolt was unveiled, and the one for Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce was unveiled in 2018.
