Volier “Maffi” Johnson Passed Away Suddenly

Jamaican veteran comedian/actor Volier “Maffi” Johnson passed away suddenly and this was confirmed by his daughter, yesterday. The renowned actor left the theatre and entertainment fraternity in a state of shock. He has been performing ever since he began in the 1980s.

While he was still attending St Andrew Technical High School in Kingston he started acting, when he performed in his first theatrical production.

The prolific actor Johnson did many pantomimes and Ginger Knight’s plays, such as ‘Stepfather’, ‘Room for Rent’and ‘Higglers’. He also performed in Basil Dawkins productions after that, and won the Actor Boy Award as Best Actor for acting in ‘Toy Boy’ in 1996.

He was also known as Oliver’s friend in ‘Oliver yu Large’.

Many supporters and friends have taken to social media to send their condolences, see a few below.

It’s unclear what led to his sudden death at this time.
