Vybz Kartel Details Why He’s Thinking of Joining Politics: “Politicians can do more”

After hinting on multiple occasions that he may join politics, Vybz Kartel returned on Friday with a new video in which he details the reasons why he would run for a seat in the House of Parliament.

In May of 2024, 48-year-old Adidja Palmer, professionally known as Vybz Kartel shared a photo of himself smiling, notably, the photo had a text that reads, “St. Catherine South, vote for ADIDJA PALMER as your new member of Parliament 2025.”

Vybz Kartel exited prison in an orange coloured outfit which is the colour used locally for the People’s National Party and despite not pledging allegiance to the PNP as yet, the Gaza deejay is closely affiliated with members of the party including his lead attorney Isat Buchanan.

In the one-minute-long video shared on August 30, he stated, “Gaza nation know mi just deh yah and a medz.. Mi neva have nuh political asperation growing up, but a one thing mek mi woulda run fi MP inna the future just fi show di people dem bro unuh life can better.”

He continues, “Politicians can do more, yuh know dem way deh… cah me a medz it… me a seh bloodcl**t inna dem day and age yah Jamaicans still a block road and protest about electricity.”

He went on to highlight that basic and primary schools should not be without proper running water and sewage systems because “a modern time now”.

Reacting to the deejay, one fan commented, “Real Chat Boss!! Gu fi it pree di MP ting n mek d changes.”

Another fan of the deejay said, “Artists in my country believe if they talk about people’s frustrations it is wrong. I wish Gaza lawd mindset would be shipped to artists in my country. Our politicians keep us in such low life while they fly out for a good life Gaazaa for life.”

As per online sources, these are the requirements to become a member of Jamaica’s Parliament: Any person who is a Commonwealth citizen of the age of 21 years or over and has been ordinarily resident in Jamaican for 12 months is qualified to be elected to the House of Representatives or to be appointed as a senator.
