Vybz Kartel dropped the official music video for his latest song ‘The Comet,’ marking his first visual release since being freed from prison over a month ago. The track, mixed and mastered by RedboomSupamix, showcases Kartel reflecting on his accomplishments during his time behind bars.
The artiste doesn’t hold back, proudly declaring, “All in prison mi a mek millions,” while boasting about his Gold and Silver-selling single ‘Fever.’ He also boldly outlines that several artiste’s careers will be “cut short” as a result of his return to the streets.
The 48-year-old deejay also addresses the new controversies surrounding him since his release, fearlessly taking shots at his critics, even claiming, ‘mi been having sex with their mothers while in prison.’
The music video, featuring Vybz Kartel himself, alongside appearances from his fiancée Sidem, Likkle Addi, and Redboom, has quickly generated buzz. Most of the music video was seemingly shot at his home in St. Ann and surrounding areas.
In ‘The Comet,’ Kartel sings, “Prison hot but out a road the heat worse,” referencing the hardships he has faced since his release. He also playfully acknowledges the chatter about his music and love choice, addressing fans who speculate about both Sidem and Tanesha, better known as Shorty.
The video has already racked up over 72,000 views on YouTube within just two hours of its release, signalling that it’s poised to dominate the local trending charts.
