Incarcerated Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, shocked a lot of people recently when he posted a picture of former Colonel of the nation Chief Sydney Peddie asserting that he is his great-grandfather.

In the same post, the deejay’s account wrote in the caption that his followers should not think he is looking hype, as he also made a previous post featuring a video about Maroon sovereignty that the new chief Richard Currie did.

It is quite a good look as Vybz Kartel is showing where his heart is and as such much of his lyricism might now be able to be understood because the indigenous group keeps the concept of freedom in high regard, something that Vybz Kartel does in his music by not being boxed into one genre whilst being independent as an artiste.

Chief Currie also confirmed Vybz Kartel’s lineage in a post he made showing the same photo the deejay posted, with the caption “Maroons always carry their ancestral receipts”, also tagging the “Worl Boss”.

It would be a great look to see more entertainers stand up for the Sovereign nation of people, in their fight against people determined to rip the culture and lands apart for monetary gain.
