Vybz Kartel Lists His “Actual Lawyers” in New Statement

Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel who has been showing optimism throughout his appeal at the UK Privy Council took to social media on Friday night to show gratitude to the “actual lawyers” involved in his final appeal.

He wrote, “Big up the actual lawyers on this appeal. Isat Buchanan. John Clarke, Alessandra LaBeach, David Hislop, Julian Malins & Hugh Southey.”

Notably. Vybz Kartel used the word “actual lawyers on this appeal” which is a statement made right after an article was published by nationwideradiojm with the title “Defence Will Oppose Any Consideration of A Retrial.”

In the article, attorney Bert Samuels talks about the high expenses and resources needed for a retrial and why a retrial would not be favourable, Samuels also earlier appeared on a popular Jamaican morning show where he told the public that he will be expecting a decision on the appeal in ‘late summer’.

With the fact that Kartel did not mention Samuels in his listed names cou0led with the fact that he said “nuh auto parts” which is a play on words with ‘Berts Autopart’ it would appear that the Portmore Gaza deejay is distancing himself from Samuels.

The Privy Council has announced that the judgment in the case will be made public next Thursday, via a live stream at 11:00 a.m. Jamaica time.

The deejay and his co-appellants, Kahira Jones, Andre St. John, and Shawn Campbell, professionally known as Shawn Storm, are currently seeking to have their 2014 murder conviction for the death of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams overturned by the Privy Council.
