Vybz Kartel ‘Not Sure’ If Popcaan Will Perform at Freedom Street: Lists Aidonia in Top-5 Dancehall Lyricists

During his most recent interview, Vybz Kartel was asked about his top five Dancehall lyricists from his time until now. After much thinking on the topic, he listed four names and had some issues naming a 5th person who would be an honourable mention.

The first name he called was Chronic Law, next Skillibeng, then Assassin, then Aidonia, “Mi affi put Law Boss, obviously mi affi put Skillibeng inna it simply because him style different, Law Boss remind me a me without being me.”

“Nuh know if people listen to dah youth yah, me woulda put Sassin inna it… mi nuh gi weh praises suh… mi woulda put Donia inna it,” Kartel said, however, he struggled to find a 5th person for ‘honourable mention’ in the virtual interview with ‘The Brando Music Review Show’.

He was next asked about who is a lyricist? “A lyricist is a man weh amaze people with him words… memba you can a talk a lot of nothing enuh… a lyricist to me a somebody yuh affi can mek di people sidung, shake and yo head and seh bombocl**t,” Kartel detailed.

Further on he was asked about Popcaan performing on the Freedom Street show, Kartel answered, by stating, “A doh sure yet enuh, a doh know, him did duh good inna class him neva copy…. as time goes by unuh will hear the lineup… yuh hear weh mi a seh and mi can tell the people dem this, anuh bag a man thing pan mi show.”

In the interview, the deejay also revealed that MC Nuffy will be calling him up on stage at the concert. He future alluded to the December 31 show having a limited amount of performers, “it is not a we are the world,” he outlined.
