Olympic and World Championship medalist Warren Weir calls out media personality Oral Tracy for ‘running off his mouth’ in an online rant. The former sprinter also details how his strong mentality carried him through his career and a difficult period after he stepped away from track and field in an untimely fashion.
Warren Weir detailed how he has been getting ‘fight against’ following his early success in the sport. “Me memba when me get all runner up fi Sports Man a the year and some man seh me fi nuh win that as a little youth enuh breda, as a likkle youth dem a draw me through the mud, but guess wah a Waterford me grow, me grow through the toughness,” Weir stated.
Despite stating that he was not referring to a single individual in his rant the former athlete singled out Oral Tracey for seemingly calling up his name. He also described his resolve against the many criticisms aimed at him.
According to Weir, “When dem a talk pon the media and batty boy Oral Trcey a run off him mouth breda dem thing deh couldn’t bother me cause me mentally tuff already breda, me a ghetto youth me know the struggles me a come from nutting so nuttin couldn’t break me.”
As he continued his speech Weir advised youngsters not to pay attention to the criticism of the media, because they want them to feel less of themself.
Weir then thanked Health Minister, Christopher Tuffton and dancehall artiste Konshens for encouraging him during his struggles.
In closing, Weir addressed his former colleagues at the time for their non-existent support and Jamaicans as a whole. “Nuff a dem pussy deh never ever, ever, ever reach out to man when man a go through certain level a depression none a uno, nobody inna track and field nobody inna sporting world never ever, ever reach out to man, all dem do a tear down dem fellow people,” Weir declared.
