WATCH: Valiant Debuts New Music Video for Single “Lover Boy”

As lovers across the world celebrate Valentine’s Day, popular on-the-rise dancehall artiste Valiant has released his latest single, Lover Boy, with an accompanying music video.

Valiant, born Raheem Bowes, stormed onto the dancehall scene in 2022, allowing his music to prove that he was not just another viral internet personality. The Speed Off deejay kicked off 2023 as one of Jamaica’s most streamed artistes on Youtube, ending January with nine songs out of the top ten on the platform’s music charts. Valiant has been releasing new music in quick succession, with his latest singles Hall Of FameGlock 40, Bruk Days, and Weh She Love acquiring over 4.6 million views on Youtube over the past several weeks.

Valiant has received criticism in the past for his lyrics. But his newest releases have shown his versatility within the genre, with the previously mentioned songs varying from hardcore dancehall delving into the thug life to uplifting themes as the entertainer expresses his hopes for a better future. The single Lover Boy sees the North Carolina artiste spinning a tale of romance as he confesses his love for his spouse.

The track was released via YGF Records and Romeich Entertainment, with Tevin “ YGF “ Richards and Romeich Major working as producers on the single. The music video, which was shot by Kingcam, depicts Valiant and his love interest joining in on the popular pick-a-card date night Tik Tok challenge as they travel to scenic locations around the island.

“We cuss, and we fight, and still nah let go. Swear pon me life a you a me wife now [ …. ] She call me a lover boy, I’m her lover boy. Cupid, shoot me. Cupid, shoot me,” Valiant sings, describing the affection that they both have for each other.
