Woman Dies After Falling From Hotel Balcony During Birthday Celebration in St. James
Investigators are looking into the death of a 25-year-old woman, Sony Hewitt, who was a former student of Edwin Allen High School. The woman, who is originally from Clarendon, reportedly fell from a hotel’s balcony in Montego Bay, St. James, on Sunday, according to the Jamaica Gleaner.
Reports are that Hewitt checked into the hotel on Saturday night, the day of her birthday.
Sources say that based on video footage, there was no indication of anyone behind her when she stepped out on the balcony, and she did not jump from the high-rise, so it was surmised that she fell in a series of unfortunate events.

After she fell, she was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The investigating officers ruled the incident a case of death by misadventure.
