Workers Halt Burials at Meadowrest Memorial Park in Protest for Higher Wages

Friday, June 11, 2021, 8:46 AM

Funeral services in St Catherine at Meadowrest Memorial Park were disrupted as workers at the facility staged a protest asking for higher wages on Thursday. It was revealed that 16 funeral proceedings were affected in the morning. Workers padlocked the gates so no one could enter the facility.

Their actions forced the management of the facility to stop all the funerals that were scheduled to be held for the rest of the day.

Sources revealed that the workers are now receiving $2,500 per day and the management of Meadowrest offered them an 8% increase, which they rejected. This led to the protest action which took place on Thursday.

The Management at Meadowrest have noted that burials will return to the facility on Friday.
