
Two separate alleged shootouts between law enforcers and armed men in Westmoreland and St. James resulted in the shooting deaths of 6 individuals with the youngest turning out to be a 15-year-old, Sheldon McCalla who had stopped attending the Petersfield High School.
The first 3 killings took place in Top Lincoln, Grange Hill of Westmoreland around 4:30 in the morning. As per the police, they were attacked by the men, which resulted in a shootout. McCalla was shot while with a relative and another male, who were also killed.
The second fatal incident took place in St. James after law enforcers were tipped-off about criminals hiding out at a house in the West Village community. Per the report, the police were initially fired upon while at the location, resulting in the return of gun fire.
Three men were also killed in this incident.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Glenford Miller, the police commander for Area One, the men were reported to be involved in a fatal drive by shooting that took place recently along Hart Street in Montego Bay.
That shooting resulting in the killing of two individuals and the injury of several others.
