A 15-year-old female student whose bag was searched and found to be containing a 9-milli-meter pistol with a magazine containing 11 rounds has been charged.
According to reports, the student along with a man appeared in court and both were indicted on the charge of illegal possession of a firearm. She, however, was granted bail, but the unnamed male will remain in the custody of the police.
On Monday, June 6, police officers from the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) were conducting a routine spot check when they stopped a Toyota Wish motor vehicle at the intersection of Windward Road and Mountain View Avenue.
A man reportedly fled the scene, while the driver and the school girl remained. Her bag was subsequently searched and the illegal firearm including ammunition were found.
Both accused are scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday, July 28.
