Once again the lawmen have been successful in ridding illegal weapons off our nation’s streets. The Police are hailing their efforts after more weapons were seized in an ongoing operation at the Stadium East complex in St Andrew.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force in a post made on Twitter revealed the find of two rifles and two magazines.
They tweeted “Happening Now: AK AK-47 and M-16 rifles found along with two magazines and 60 5.56 cartridges; at the National Stadium East operation continues. Five firearms have been seized in total today and eight since the start of the operation yesterday. #GetTheGuns.”
Most of the persons commenting on the post were happy about the find and encouraged the police to continue in this direction.
One person tweeted “A dis we want not a state of nothing continue searching.” Another person implied that we were finally getting away from the informer’s bad mentality by tweeting “Somebody a talk that’s what we want to see”.
“Good job Jamaica constabulary force .. but all this will be in vain if we don’t stop the trafficking of firearms……. Stop the trafficking of firearms”, expressed one other user.
Others seemed a little less enthused about the ability of the police to keep these weapons from entering the island with one person tweeting “You do realize that these will be replaced by a shipment from Haiti next week. What we need is to get rid of criminals from society”.
The Police have stated that they are relentless in their pursuits to confiscate these weapons and bring the individuals responsible for them to justice.
Two of the firearms found in the operation were found in material used for construction.
