A release from the Corporate Communication Unit by the police stated that the incident was reported to the Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and The Inspectorate as well as the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

However, various social media users claim that the interpretation by the authorities of the situation warrants further investigation after a video recording of the incident was posted online.

While some users think that the cops are just doing their jobs, a certain social media user commented that if the video that they saw circulating was that of the melee, then the matter needs further investigation.
