It is profoundly disturbing that we as a nation can side with people who are actively engaged in undermining the fundamental civility or our country and society, when we support the likes of Vybez Kartel, and drug dealers such as Buju Banton. These people are not artists at all, but criminals with a very bad message for the youths in an already disadvantaged position in life…looking for a constructive direction. The two individuals mentioned, have placed themselves above the law, and has brought the excellent work the police did in these cases into disrepute. I was present at the Kingston trial, and it escapes my understanding of legal due proceedings, to see how the defendants lawyers could question the evidence which in my view was overwhelmingly stacked against Shawn Storm ( the most stupid of the defendants), all the defendants. The most damning evidence came from the very mouths of the very same people who now seek, to call it a miscarriage of justice. My message to the defendants, one and all. You had the right to remain silent, before during and after the commissions of these crimes. As for Buju Bantan, your crimes were based solely on your greed and selfishness whilst thinking you had integrity and privilege to engage in peddling drugs. This is not a crime, not just of criminal proportions, but a crime against those who looked to you through your music. To role model them through their impressionable years. You failed them, you failed Jamaica, most of all you failed the people who bought your music. I will never listen, purchase, or drive past your house or any venue which sends out the message to you. That what you did was ok!!!
My message to the youths, Shaggy, Sean Paul are just 2 of many artists who are up there for Jamaica. Not the rubbish these criminals tell you is ok. Its not, the spirit of Jamaica is in us all. Not these criminals who prey on the lack of opportunities for the young.
My regards Mr B Henley.
