$75 Million Worth Of Cocaine Seizure Leads Police To A House With LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY INSIDE
A big cocaine bust in Montego Bay, St. James, has led police officers to discover more illicit operations during a series of linked operations in other western parishes.
Reportedly, a 46-year-old businessman was arrested after the vehicle he was driving was intercepted during a joint police/military operation in Coral Gardens, Montego Bay, St James and $75 million worth of cocaine were found inside the vehicle.
Along with the Eleven kilograms of cocaine, there was also US$500,000 hidden in the vehicle.
Following the drug bust, another operation conducted in St Elizabeth was revealed by Narcotics Police Division, along with a third police operation in Westmoreland.
During the second operation, the police discovered a three-storey house and, after searching the property, a very large sum of United States currency and Canadian currency were found.
The police reported that they are currently unable to say the amount they found because it is an unusually large amount of cash, and it “will take some time to count”.
The police believe that the money came from illegal activities and they have launched a multi-agency investigation.
In Westmoreland, a woman from the Whitehouse community who works as a bartender was also arrested after she was allegedly caught with a large quantity of ganja. The female was charged with multiple breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
