Capleton’s bail extended… Returns to court in July
[Sharingbuttons]Jamaican reggae dancehall star Capleton appeared in court last thursday to answer to rape charges laid against him however he was told to return to court july 13, 2018 when proceedings are expected to continue. Capleton is currently out on a $250,000 JMD bond.
Capleton whose given name is Clifton Bailey was arrested and charged with rape on May 11. The 51-year-old entertainer has always prided himself on being a law-abiding Jamaican over the years. Even though so many other artistes have been in trouble with the law, Capleton has never had any problems with anyone. So now he is confident that the truth will set him free and he has been getting a lot of support from his friends and colleagues in the music industry.
His lawyer Christopher Townsend is also very confident about victory for his client as Capleton has had a good track record, he believes good will overcome evil and justice will prevail in this case.
It is alleged that the woman was hired to groom his hair and he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. This caused him to be charged by detectives from (CISOCA) the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse on Friday. While out on bail Capleton is ordered to stay away from the complainant and no form of contact is permitted according to the judge. On the other hand the fireman is allowed to travel and perform while out on bail.
