Mohamed Salah tests positive for COVID-19
According to reports from the Egypt Football Association (EFA), Liverpool’s right-winger Mohamed Salah returned a positive result with regards to his most recent test for COVID-19 and as a result will miss out on the upcoming friendly matches that Egypt is scheduled for.
The news was made public today November 13th, the top goal scorer for Liverpool will also miss Liverpool’s next couple of matches because he must go through a mandatory self-isolation period which is at least two weeks.
Salah is said to be asymptomatic, which means he has no symptoms of the virus.
It’s widely noted that Mohamed returned a positive result just days after attending his brother’s wedding.
The Egyptian F.A. published a statement stating that “The medical swab conducted on our national football team showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with coronavirus after his test came positive, although he does not suffer from any symptoms, while the other members of the team tested negative.”
28-year-old Salah started off the season in top form scoring 8 EPL goals and currently jointly sits at top of the scoring chart with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Son Heung-Min and Jamie Vardy who all has 8 goals as well.
Salah’s fellow Liverpool teammate Sadio Mané earlier tested positive also for the virus but has since recovered and is back playing matches for both club and country.
